Clyde, Whims, Pomeroy Land James Beard Award Noms

This morning, the James Beard Foundation announced its 2014 award finalists, and a few Portlanders are celebrating right now. After several years making the semifinalist list, downtown's Clyde Common makes the shortlist for Outstanding Bar Program (going up against Bar Agricole, the NoMad, Maison Premiere, and the Violet Hour).

In the Best Chef: Northwest category, Naomi Pomeroy (Beast) and Cathy Whims (Nostrana, Oven & Shaker) are the two Portland chefs still in the running. After years of PDX domination in Best Chef nominations, Seattle re-gained the advantage this year; Pomeroy and Whims are up against Ethan Stowell, Jason Franey (Canlis), and Renée Erickson (The Whale Wins). Pok Pok's Andy Ricker, meanwhile, was nominated for a James Beard Journalism Award for his work in Saveur.

The James Beard Foundation Awards will be on May 5 at Lincoln Center in NYC with Ted Allen and Mario Batali as hosts. Update: For the complete list of nominees, head over to Eater National.
