On this week's event-planning EaterWire:
E. BURNSIDE— Gabriel Rucker's lauded Le Pigeon will host its first-ever beer pairing dinner on Wednesday, March 26, joining forces with SE's Hair of the Dog Brewery. Rucker will team with Hair of the Dog's Alan Sprints for a five-course pairing dinner focusing on "vintage" (or aged) beers: Beer nerds can expect tastes of HotD's 2010 West Coast Barleywine and a Bourbon Fred Golden Strong Ale from 2012. Author Patrick Dawson (of Vintage Beer: A Taster's Guide to Brews That Improve Over Time) will be on-hand as a dinner co-host. Reservations to one of the two available seatings are $125 and available by calling 503-546-8796.
DIVISION/CLINTON— On Saturday (March 22), the Woodsman Tavern will welcome Toronto chef Matty Matheson (of Parts & Labour) for a collaborative dinner. Woodsman chef Andrew Gregory will team with Matheson to cook up a five-course, family-style meal: A sneak peek at the menu reveals potential dishes like smoked whitefish with burnt beets; bone marrow and sardines with wild-herb-and-onion salad; and whole rabbit with prunes and pork belly porridge. Reservations are $70 (with an optional $30 wine pairing), and two seating times are available.
NW/ALPHABET DISTRICT— The NW location of Bamboo Sushi toasts the changing of the seasons with a Spring Tasting Dinner this Sunday, March 23. The five-course dinner features dishes like kombu-cured branzino with coconut kafir powder; citrus-zested kanpachi and hamachi; and live scallop with morel mushroom dashi. The $110 reservation includes sake and wine pairings; reservations available by calling 971-229-1925.
E. BURNSIDE— This Friday (March 21), Bar Vivant will whip out the Emilio Lustau Sherry during a complementary tasting from 7p.m. to 8p.m. (guests can sample a half-dozen different varieties). The rest of the afternoon, the spot is offering a $12 Sherry and tapas tasting, offering three Sherries paired with boquerones, champis, and house-made chocolate. More information about both tasting deals here.
