Welcome to the photo series Eater Scenes, in which Eater photographer Dina Avila visits some of the city's top restaurants to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Today, a special Pizza Week edition at Oven & Shaker.
At crunch time on a recent Saturday night, there wasn't an empty seat to be found at the Pearl District's hybrid cocktail bar/pizzeria Oven & Shaker, as diners lined up for a taste of Cathy Whims' Nostrana salads and pizzas donned with spicy salami and honey; octopi and chili; and/or bacon, ham, and apple butter. Eater's cameras were on-hand to capture the convivial crowds and O&S's pizzaiolos at work. What you can't hear through the photos: the ratting shakers, dining-room buzz, and the occasional ringing bell (and cheer) every time someone purchased the kitchen a six-pack.
