N. MISSISSIPPI/WILLIAMS— A newish cart pod on N. Mississippi Avenue will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, March 22: The four carts at the Beech Pod, across the street from Amnesia Brewing, will each feature a special "tasting menu" from noon to 9p.m., with $3-4 specials. Bike-pedaled smoothie shop Moberi, acclaimed Indian cart Tiffin Asha, Turkish/German spot the Doner Haus, and Italian sandwich/pasta cart Gabagool are the four pod members; more information about the opening celebration here. CULLY— The owner of Hollywood bar Moon & Sixpence has announced plans to open a neighborhood cafe in Cully: The Oregonian reports proprietor Kevin Dorney will convert a former smoke shop/mini mart into the Tom Cully Cafe, offering breakfast, lunch, and possibly wood-fired pizza to the largely restaurant-less neighborhood. DOWNTOWN— W. Burnside's noteworthy record store/venue Music Millennium has one week left on a Kickstarter campaign that seeks to raise funds for an in-store coffee, beer, and wine bar. The 45-year-old music hub has set a goal of $60,000 to help pay for cafe build-out (and some repairs to the building's roof). The MM cafe is slated to open in early summer. [EaterWire]
