Laurelwood Sells Wa. Pub; Old Town Cafe Switcheroo

New, 1 comment

BATTLE GROUND— The Portland-based Laurelwood Public House & Brewery has sold its Battle Ground, Washington brewpub. The Columbian reports that Laurelwood's Mike De Kalb sold the location to "focus on Laurelwood's growing brewing business and its five brewpub locations in Portland." According to the New School, the Washington locale was the site of a "small nano brewery for pilot batches," and suggests that Laurelwood may be shifting focus to "fighting for grocery store shelf space." OLD TOWN— A cafe switcheroo to report in Old Town: Chez Joly has become a second location of the Capers Café, perhaps best known for its omelettes at the PDX International Airport. Owners Christian and Annette Joly, who opened Capers Cafe & Catering in 1990, made a go with the French-inflected Chez Joly back in 2009. The swap is already in effect, with Capers Old Town serving breakfast and lunch on weekdays. Hours of operation: 7:30a.m. to 4p.m., Monday through Friday. [EaterWire]

NORTHEAST— Neighborhood spot Kerns Kitchen (formerly Bakery Bar) launches its first-ever happy hour menu today: It features deals like a $6 margherita pizza and $7.50 cocktails. More information here. [EaterWire]
