Are crepes the new cupcakalecronut? Another creperie will soon open in the N. Mississippi Avenue space once occupied by the Honey Pot Bakery: Owners Chris and Theresa Therrien recently relocated from Dover, New Hampshire to Portland, bringing their seven-year-old Silver Moon Creperie concept along with them. According to Chris Therrien, the "exhorbitantly colorful, family/kid friendly" restaurant will offer both sweet and savory crepes, smoothies, fresh-squeezed juice, and beer and cider, in addition to crepes made from gluten-free and vegan batters. (The full crepe menu is still in the words, but past offerings have included fillings like pistachio-cardamom cream; red onion marmalade, walnuts, and gorgonzola; and apricot-almond jam with brie.)
A flurry of creperies have opened in Portland in recent months, both with farmer's market origins. In January, C'est Si Bon opened a brick-and-mortar in the former Kir Wine Bar space; last fall, the concept formerly known as Savory Et Sweet opened a creperie in Sellwood. Silver Moon Creperie plans a mid-May opening.
