The sustainably minded team behind Bamboo Sushi will soon open an izakaya on NE Alberta Avenue: According to an application received by the Portland Bureau of Transportation, Bamboo Izakaya is seeking to install outdoor "Street Seats" at a new location on NE Alberta and 14th. Details are scarce at the moment, but a sparse website announcing the project promises "eclectic Japanese" food from the Bamboo Sushi team.
Owner Kristofor Lofgren opened the first Bamboo Sushi in SE Portland in 2008, following it up with a NW outpost in 2012 that added more "kitchen" options in addition to the raw fish.
UPDATE: Lofgren remains mum on details for now, but tells Eater via e-mail: "We are very very excited to bring this project forward, as it's been in the works a long time," noting that he's been waiting for "the right team to develop to make it possible."
