Just a few days ago, the City of Portland announced plans to adjust its composting laws, mandating that as of March 2015, only food scraps (but not paper napkins or compostable plastics) will be accepted by the city. This throws a wrench in many restaurants' current composting set-up, which as the Oregonian reports, local chain Burgerville saw coming: The chain "backed out" of its compost program 18 months ago, citing a lack of communication between city agencies and businesses.
