Food writer Lynne Curry will soon open the first farm-to-table restaurant in Eastern Oregon, a solid 323 miles outside Portland. Eat Beat reports Curry, author of Pure Beef, will resurrect the historic Lostine Tavern in Lostine, Oregon, a small town in what she calls a food desert: "That's the big irony of the rural West. It's way more legwork than if a Portland chef wanted to open a farm-to-table restaurant." The Lostine Tavern is aiming for a mid-May opening. [Eat Beat] [Photo: Facebook]
