Pine State Biscuits Is Back in Action in Southeast Portland

[Acurso, 4/22/14]

Fried chicken and biscuits have returned to SE Portland. After closing its iconic SE Belmont storefront back in March 2013 with plans to move to SE Division, Pine State Biscuits's new spot has finally opened in the newly revamped Jimmy's Tire Building. The mixed-use building represents an upgrade from the former Belmont space, though seating is still at a premium: Six stools line the main counter space, while a half-dozen two-tops, one booth, and a few stools at a window counter provide all additional seating.

At the new location, co-owners Walt Alexander, Kevin Atchley, and Brian Snyder offer Pine State's familiar line-inducing line-up of biscuit sandwiches (like the fried chicken, bacon, egg, and cheese Reggie Deluxe), biscuits-and-gravy, cheese-topped fries, and shrimp and grits. Pine State SE joins the concept's other locations on NE Alberta and at the PSU Portland Farmers Market, and plans are to launch dinner and late-night service (featuring cocktails) soon. Current hours of operation: 7a.m. to 3p.m., daily.
