[Avila, 5/15/14]
Uno Mas isn't so micro anymore: Chef Oswaldo Bibiano's taquiza, whose first location sits inside the mini-restaurant complex the Ocean, has branched out to the west side, taking over the W. Burnside space very briefly home to Portland Urban Bistro. Like the NE Ocean location, Bibiano (who's also behind Mexican restaurants Autentica and Mextiza) offers 18 taco varieties, from al pastor to pulpo to nopal enchilado, all $2 each (or $3.75 apiece for seafood fillings). Tacos de canasta , aka steamed tacos, are also available — albeit during lunch service only — in sets of four and with four filling options.
But with the larger digs come some menu upgrades: Flour tortilla tacos (playfully dubbed "gringa tacos") in five fillings; salads (like a spinach salad tossed with habanero, lime, avocado, and red onion), and a handful of new side dishes all make menu appearances, as do breakfast tacos and cocktails from Uno Mas' full bar.
Check out the breakfast taco menu above (it's only available on Sunday mornings, starting at 9a.m.); a six-item cocktail list features a house margarita, vodka-spiked strawberry basil lemonade, and micheladas. Uno Mas is (softly) open now, with its "Grand Opening" set for this Monday, May 19. Hours of operation: 11a.m. to midnight, Monday through Thursday; 11a.m. to 1a.m., Friday and Saturday; 9a.m. to noon, Sunday.
