Jack Elmer, the founder and longtime owner of SE's Hawthorne's JaCiva's Bakery, has passed away at the age of 75. The Oregonian reports Elmer — who retired last year after receiving a diagnosis of prostate cancer — died April 30. In a brief announcement on its Facebook page, JaCiva's, which is now run by Elmer's daughter, simply wrote: "He was loved and will be missed greatly." [OregonLive]
