New Cidery Takes Flight; Remedy's Anniversary Party

SOUTHEAST— Portland's cider boom continues: Eat Beat reports that Alter Ego Cider, a new project by winemaker Anne Hubatch (of Helioterra Wines) and partners Nate and Kris Wall, will soon be available on-tap at SE's Coopers Hall. According to its official site, the Alter Ego line-up includes apple and red raspberry varieties, both of which will be released at Coopers Hall next Monday, June 23. [Eat Beat]

OLD TOWN— The North Park Blocks' wine bar Remedy will celebrate its first anniversary all afternoon this Saturday, June 21, by offering complimentary pours of sparkling wine, snacks, and live music. BUCKMAN— This Sunday, June 22, chef Cathy Whims will re-create a multi-course dinner she recently served at NYC's James Beard House as part of a benefit for friends of Nostrana. The five-course lunch (including wine pairings) features dishes like Bolognese egg and parmigiano dumplings in brodo; strozzapreti with prosciutto; and a classic Lasagne verde alla Bolognese.
