Bottle + Kitchen, Hotel Rose's Revamped Restaurant

Here now, a whirl inside Bottle + Kitchen, a new gastropub concept that opened inside downtown's Hotel Rose (formerly the Hotel Fifty) earlier this month. Some background: In summer 2013, the Washington-based Pineapple Hospitality Company purchased the waterfront hotel, re-branding it into the Hotel Rose; its lobby restaurant, formerly known as H5O Bistro, has been reborn into Bottle + Kitchen, serving "globally inspired" comfort food.

According to a Pineapple Hospitality rep, the interior was revamped to "create the warm, welcoming atmosphere that Pineapple Hospitality is known for": The restaurant's lobby entrance has been expanded, shrinking the dining room slightly and moving the private dining/event space. H5O's signature fireplace has been resurfaced, banquettes brightened up in a sunny yellow, and tables boast colorful, mismatched wood patterns.

Chef Ron Baker, who'd been at H5O Bistro for two years, remains in the kitchen, spinning the menu into an eclectic mix: Dinner service highlights dishes like Dungeness crab and pickled mango ravioli (served with a curry vinaigrette), pigs in a blanket made with Chinese sausage, and Pinot-roasted duck leg. Both the lunch and bar menus go slightly more casual, with cod fish and chips, pork tacos, and an Oregon Bay shrimp Louie; the restaurant also serves breakfast, happy hour (from 4-6p.m., daily), and room service. Bottle + Kitchen is open now.
