SE Hawthorne's Polish restaurant Bar Dobre will permanently close later this week, after a 19-month run: In an announcement posted last night, owner/chef Stan Pratnicki writes the final night of service will be this Saturday, June 7. In its place, however, Pratnicki plans to open a casual sandwich shop called Stan'wiches (currently, "Stan'wiches" is a section of the larger Bar Dobre menu, offering a couple burgers, a porkstrami Reuben, and grilled chicken with tasso and cheddar).
Dobre — after an amazing 19 months, Bar Dobre's last night of service will be this Saturday, June 7. We'd like to THANK YOU so much for all of your support this last year and a half! Please come see us this week, have one last Polish beer at the bar or plate of pierogi and help us say a proper goodbye to Portland's only Polish restaurant, Bar Dobre. And now for the good news... Dobre's owner, chef Stan Pratnicki, is embarking on a new venture and will be opening "Stan'wiches" in the Bar Dobre space this summer! Casual in-house dining (or to-go) during the day and early evening — stay tuned for all of the details coming soon!
Pratnicki will also continue making in-house sausages and other Polish dishes as part of the Bar Dobre catering arm, which will continue. More information about Stan'wiches as it becomes available.
