Jeffrey Morgenthaler's first-ever book, The Bar Book: Elements of Cocktail Technique, hit shelves last week, so Eater National takes a look inside what Morgenthaler himself called his instructional guide to proper booze-pouring technique.
The book, co-written by Martha Holmberg, explains the rationale behind cocktail elements (why use one type of ice over another?), using a handful of recipes to help illustrate shaking, compound syrup-making, and of course, carbonating drinks. There's also a recipe for Clyde Common's "immensely popular" eggnog: Its secret ingredients are sweet anejo tequila and amontillado sherry.
