The Country Cat is expanding its footprint in the Montavilla neighborhood: Co-owners Adam and Jackie Sappington will soon open an events space and dining room called the Calico Room two storefronts down from the Cat. The Oregonian reports the 45-seat dining room will take over the spot recently vacated by Pastrygirl (which closed up shop earlier this week), offering "cooking and butchery classes and pop-up dinners, including a Friday-night series from the Sappingtons."
Sappington tells the O the dinner series will depart from the Cat's Midwestern classics, providing a space to "let down my hair a little bit." The Calico Room is aiming for an early August opening; more as it becomes available.
