Farina Bakery, the wholesale macaron-maker whose treats are considered among the best in town, will soon open a proper bakery space on SE Hawthorne Boulevard, in the space that's been home to Sel Gris, Fin, and most recently Otto. Owner Laura Farina says the bakery case will offer her signature macarons, a half-dozen Scandinavian pastries ("Swedish cinnamon buns, cakes, and other sweet treats I fell in love with while I lived there"), and a couple savory options.
According to Farina, the macaron line-up will feature many of her familiar flavors (pistachio, chocolate, Swedish lingonberry), and other muffins, scones, and cakes will be "rotating and fresh with [the] seasons." There are no plans to offer lunch or alcohol, but cafe visitors can pair their macarons and pastries with coffee by Sterling Coffee Roasters. Farina is aiming for a fall 2014 opening; stay tuned.
