Chef David Machado (of downtown's Nel Centro and SE Divison/Clinton's erstwhile restaurants Lauro Kitchen and Vindalho) will open two new concepts in Northeast Portland by spring of next year. The Oregonian reports Machado will run two restaurants inside the upcoming Hotel Eastlund, slated to take over the Lloyd District's Red Lion Hotel later this September. When Eastlund debuts in May, it'll boast a top-floor restaurant "with a rooftop deck and three fire pits" and a "bakery-cafe and wine bar" on the ground floor.
Further details about both concepts are scarce at the moment, but Grand Ventures Hotel LLC, which will revamp the spot into the Eastlund, is the same operations group that owns downtown's Hotel Modera, home to Machado's Nel Centro. More information as it becomes available.
