Oswaldo Bibiano's North Portland restaurant, Mextiza, confirmed lingering rumors today: It will indeed permanently close on July 31. In a Facebook post, Bibiano (who also owns Concordia's Autentica and two outposts of his taqueria, Uno Mas), wrote:
Dear patrons, Mextiza will be closing for business at the end of July. We would like to thank you for the two and a half years of love and support you had for our food and dedicated staff. We'll stay open for regular hours through the remainder of the month. Come try us one last time.
Mextiza debuted in November 2011, borrowing "pieces of Mexico" for a menu that offered several regional specialties. In his rumor-mongering post at PortlandFoodandDrink, Food Dude suggests that Bibiano's long-term plans "call for more of the [Uno Mas] taquerias in the future." No word if Bibiano plans to retain the Mextiza space; updates as they become available.
