WEST END— Kask, the sister bar to chef Chris Israel's Alpine-inflected restaurant Gruner, has gone West: Eat Beat reports the cocktail den has undergone a "menu reboot," with a new focus on Southwestern and Tex-Mex plates (from pulled pork sandwiches to stuffed roasted poblanos to braised greens atop flatbread). The new items — which tie-in nicely to the bar's biweekly queer party Pokey (which is honky-tonk and cowboy-themed) — are currently available, with more to roll out soon. [Eat Beat]
E. BURNSIDE— Pix Patisserie will swap all the desserts in its pastry case for ice cream-based treats during its 2014 Ice Cream Social, slated for this Sunday, August 17. Expect house-made treats like ice cream sandwiches, classic sundaes and milkshakes, Push-up pops, and other frozen desserts. More information available here. [EaterWire]
