Kings of expansion Micah Camden and Katie Poppe are at it again: The duo will open the third Portland-area location of Blue Star Donuts later this fall on N. Mississippi Avenue. Poppe confirms that the location will be a Blue Star "satellite store" — meaning no baking will be done on-site — next door to the Mississippi location of their chainlet Little Big Burger. (It'll take over the former Jet clothing store.) The shop will receive fresh doughnuts twice daily from the SE Hawthorne commissary, pairing them with coffee and other beverages.
The scratch-doughnut shop first debuted in downtown's West End in December 2013, with a second location on SE Hawthorne following in May of this year. In June, Camden and Poppe added fried chicken to their culinary portfolio, with the SE Division debut of Son Of a Biscuit. Blue Star Mississippi plans a September opening.
