Ken Collura's EaT Wine Dinner; Fenrir's Taqueria Pop-Up

N. WILLIAMS— The next installment of sommelier Ken Collura's citywide pop-up wine dinners is set for EaT: An Oyster Bar on Monday, August 18. The four-course meal — featuring nearly a dozen dishes, served family-style — will pair French wines with Creole cuisine, highlighting dishes like housemade sausage and grits, octopus carpaccio, and shrimp with lemon cucumbers and salsa verde. (Of course, the opening course will be oysters.) Reservations are $60 including all food and wine; more information here. [EaterWire]

CENTRAL EASTSIDE— The team behind the usually Nordic-inspired Fenrir will toast their love of Californian-Mexican cuisine with the second installment of their PDXiCALi dinner series on Sunday, August 17. The event is casual — no reservations necessary — and expect tamales, tacos, horchatas, and margaritas to be front-and-center. More information here. [EaterWire]

BUCKMAN— The design-minded conference PechaKucka prides itself on being the anti-TEDTalk (with speakers limited to just under seven minutes to talk time), and its Portland event, scheduled for Thursday, August 14, features several culinary names in its line-up. Chef Joshua McFadden (Ava Genes), bartender Jeffrey Morgenthaler (Clyde Common), and scoop-master Tyler Malek (Salt & Straw) will all present talks during the event, at Holocene. Entrance is free with registration. [PoMo]
