Eastside Distilling Expands Into New Building on SE MLK

In another sign that Portland's distilleries are outgrowing Distillery Row, the five-year-old Eastside Distilling has announced intentions to become the "largest craft distillery in the Pacific Northwest" with an expansion into a 41,000-square-foot facility on SE MLK Boulevard. After what Eastside CEO Steven Earles calls a "multi-million dollar renovation," the new site will house a production area open to tours, several tasting rooms, and a "members-only VIP area" for events and concerts.

Just last month, Eastside's neighbors at House Spirits Distillery announced their own intentions to become the largest distillery in Oregon, and are in the process of moving into a 14,000-square-foot space on SE Stark Street. (The two new distilleries are less than a mile away from each other on the Central Eastside.) Eastside Distilling plans to keep its original tasting room on Distillery Row; its new site plans an opening around the 2014 holiday season.
