Evoe, the charming chef's counter attached to SE Hawthorne's specialty market Pastaworks, will close up shop by the end of August, The Oregonian confirms. In its place will come a permanent home for chef Ryan Roadhouse's pop-up Nodoguro, which had been popping up inside the Evoe space on its off-nights for the past few weeks. According to the O, Roadhouse plans to keep his current schedule in the space, then "ramp up" to additional services.
Evoe, which debuted back in 2008, opened as a showcase for then-chef Kevin Gibson (Gibson left the restaurant in November 2013 to open his own spot, E. Burnside's Davenport). Evoe's Italian-influenced take on bar snacks — charcuterie, deviled eggs, and super-savory sandwiches — enjoyed critical acclaim throughout the lunch counter's run, including a long-held spot on the Eater 38. Evoe's last day will be August 31. More information about possible space changes with Nodoguro as it becomes available.
