In late 2013, pizza fans salivated over the news that Brooklyn pizza legend Paulie Gee's would be expanding to Portland with a ringer manning its ovens: pizza enthusiast Adam Kuban, the blogger behind the pizza blog Slice. Now, news comes that Kuban — who had been training with Paulie Gee's founder Paulie Giannone for months — will open his own pizzeria in New York City, scrapping his personal plans to move to Portland. According to Giannone, that means a Paulie Gee's expansion to Portland is on hold, for the time being, until a new local partner presents himself or herself.

"I would love for someone to open a Paulie Gee's in Portland," Giannone tells Eater. "However, I first have to find the right person to own the place." (The blueprint for Paulie Gee's ambitious expansion plans involves Giannone partnering with interested pizza fanatics in each city, training each in his Brooklyn kitchen.) According to Giannone, the ideal candidate would be "someone with a passion for pizza and entrepreneurship. With a city as cool as Portland, I don't think it will be long before candidates present themselves."
