Ami Taylor's Brass Tacks Deli, the sister shop to Boise's Brass Tacks Sandwiches, is now open in St. Johns. Taylor says she's still putting the finishing touches on the joint, but says that by the time her grand opening rolls around in late September, her backyard covered patio will be complete, turning her cozy six-seat shop into a 20-seater. Taylor's St. Johns deli menu will match the menu at Boise's Brass Tacks, which she's owned and operated in Boise since 2011. So expect ham, salami, vegan meatball and build-your-own sandwiches, as well as a pair of Saturday and Sunday meat and vegan brunch sandwich.
However, Taylor says there's a couple of things you can only get at the deli, namely tomato jam, hummus, vegannaise, meats, soups and salads, all sold by the pound. The other highlight? You can enjoy your sandwich while looking over the adjacent garden, seeing with your own eyes exactly where your Brass Tacks pickles and vegetable fixins come from. Courier Coffee drinks, specialty sodas and (soon) Captured by Porches draft beer round out the menu.
