Tommy Habetz, the mastermind behind Bunk Sandwiches, is getting into the pizza game. Eat Beat reports Habetz plans to open Moon Pizza on SE Powell Boulevard, promising what Habetz calls "classic, 18-inch, East Coast style pizza." The menu will feature seasonally inspired pizzas by the slice or whole pie (Habetz promises farmers' market vegetables), plus ice cream made in-house for dessert.

The project represents Habetz's part-time departure from the Bunk realm: According to Eat Beat, he'll step away from day-to-day operations at the sandwich shop to focus on the new project (which is incidentally named for the Who drummer Keith Moon). Habetz's partner, Water Avenue Coffee alum Brandon Smyth, will run both the front-of-house and the ice cream program. Moon Pizza could open as soon as "this winter," more information as it becomes available.
