North Portland Gets a Bike-Themed Bottleshop

New, 1 comment

Grab a growler and leave your car at home.

The Overlook neighborhood has a new wine bar and bottle shop just a few steps from the MAX station and N. Interstate bike lane, giving car-less Portlanders no excuse for drinking plonk. The Spoke and Vine opened over the summer in the base of the new Prescott Building on North Skidmore Avenue, specializing in local and international wines from organic, biodynamic, and small, family-owned vineyards. The bicycle-themed shop offers special weekly wine flights, Friday night tastings (this week it's Owen Roe), a rotating selection of beer and wine on tap, plus small plates of local cheese and charcuterie. Outdoor tables were a big draw over the summer, but now the gas fireplace is luring customers indoors.

Spoke & Vine, 1451 N. Skidmore St., Portland

Hours: 3-10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday; 3-11 p.m Friday and Saturday; 2-6 p.m. Sunday
