YAMHILL COUNTY— This weekend, Yamhill County will throw an ongoing "culinary celebration" featuring several events that highlight local bounty. On Saturday, you can take a tour with the cheesemaker at Briar Rose Creamery, walk the farm and taste mead at Kookoolan Farms, or get up close and personal with cowhorns and grape clusters at biodynamic Bergstrom winery. A picnic lunch at Stoller Family Estate follows. Or hold out for Sunday's grand al fresco dinner, featuring 20 chefs, 20 farms and 20 vineyards. Tickets are $60 for the tour and picnic, $150 for the grand dinner. Purchase or get more information here. [EaterWire]
TIMBERLINE LODGE— Our favorite food fight returns this Sunday, as Portland chefs battle some of Seattle's big boys at Sunday's 14th annual Wild About Game. While heavy hitters like Joshua McFadden of Ava Genes and Shane Ryan of Matt's in the Market in Seattle square off over wild game, you can sample wine, beer, cheeses and charcuterie from favorite local producers. Tickets are $65 in advance, $75 at the door. Want to stay for the weekend? Timberline's executive chef Jason Stoller Smith, and last year's Wild About Game winner, chef Aaron Barnett of St. Jack, are teaming up for a Wild About Game dinner Saturday night. Cost is $95 per person, including wine and gratuity. [EaterWire]
EAST BURNSIDE— Two of Portland's favorite chefs come together Thursday, September 11, for a dinner based on "mutual respect." Gabe Rucker and the Le Pigeon crew have invited chef Dustin Clark of now-shuttered Wildwood into their kitchen to create a collaborative five-course tasting menu, with two courses from Clark and two from Rucker, finished with a dessert course from Le Pigeon pastry chef Nora Antene. The dinner is offered during two seatings (5:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.) and costs $125 per person including wine and gratuity. For reservations call the restaurant at (503) 546-8796. [EaterWire]
