Just two short months ago we brought you news of Nick and Sam Purvis' new coffee shop Good Coffee on SE Division. The brothers behind Prettyman's General cafe/bar knocked it out of the park with a beautiful, high-design space, warm service, and, of course, good coffee from the likes of local roasters Coava, Heart, and Roseline.
Late last week, they did it again, opening a second location in the new East 12th Lofts building at SE 12th and SE Salmon.
As with the Division spot, the space is beautiful and light-filled, comfortable without being the least bit frumpy (the canvas and leather chairs are covet-worthy), and exceedingly friendly. The pastry case is similarly filled with treats from Frice Pastry and simple grab-and-go baguette sandwiches from Lardo. They're working on getting sourdough bread and custom spreads from Frice in order to offer a selection of warm toast.
Aside from teas by San Francisco's Song Tea & Ceramics and beans from Michigan's Madcap roasters, most of the products used are local. The chai is the stellar, spicy Tanglewood from Either/Or cafe in Sellwood, vanilla syrup comes from Commissary and the chocolate for the mochas comes from Cocanu.
Good Coffee: SE 12th and SE Salmon, Portland. Hours: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily
