Hotlips Pizza's Hollywood Location Opening Monday

Just in time for the Ducks' big game.

While we'll always miss Pal's Shanty, it's always a good thing when locally owned, sustainability-minded Hotlips opens another location. As we reported in October, the Pal's Shanty family gave up the ghost on trying to resurrect the space after it was torched in a botched burglary, and Hotlips stepped in to finish the job and open its sixth Portland outpost.

Renovations of the space inside the old building, which dates to the early 1900s, exposed a large brick wall painted with a vintage flour advertisement. They've preserved the painting and incorporated it into the decor, which is rich with wood tones, from the beams in the ceilings to floors, tables and chairs. In fact, for a Hotlips joint, this place is borderline fancy.

On Monday, Jan 12, they're holding a soft opening to coincide with the University of Oregon-Ohio State National Championship football game. They'll show the game on the TV and serve up pizza and beer. The next day they'll be open for business as usual from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The menu will include the usual lineup of seasonal pizzas, sandwiches, and calzones, plus craft beer on tap, bottled wine and Hotlips' line of sodas. It will also offer delivery. A grand opening celebration is planned for later this month.
