Bartender Jacob Grier Now Mixing at MWL; Book Out in March

But will he bring back the bone luge?

As if there weren't already enough reasons to visit Multnomah Whiskey Library, bartender Jacob Grier, best known for marrow bone luges and bringing aquavit to the masses, is now tending bar at MWL a few nights a week.

"They needed someone to come in part-time during the holidays and it's a fantastic learning opportunity for me," says Grier. "It may turn out to be short-term, but we're really enjoying working together."

Grier is known for being one of Portland's most curious, creative and experimental bartenders, and those who miss sidling up to his bar during his Metrovino days will likely lobby him to stay put for a while, especially now that he has such a vast collection of spirits at his fingertips.

But Grier can be hard to pin down. He's also a cocktail consultant, an events planner, and a writer. His beer cocktail book, "Cocktails on Tap," comes out from Stewart, Tabori & Chang on March 17, with photos from local photographer David Reamer, who also shot the Toro Bravo and Le Pigeon cookbooks. Grier has a book signing planned for Powell's at 7 p.m. on March 23.

In other words: You'll have to catch him at MWL while you can. In fact, he's already working on his next "non-drink writing project."
