Seattle's First Cat Cafe Opening; Where to Drink Seahawks-Themed Cocktails

EPDX

Welcome to CascadiaWire, a weekly collection of restaurant news from up-and-down the Pacific Northwest corridor.

WALLINGFORD — Cat cafe mania is officially here. Well, almost: Seattle Meowtropolitan, the city's first cat cafe, is set to open in Wallingford around the last week of October. Cat cafes are all the rage in Asia, where the trend involving cafes stocked with wandering felines started. Cat cafes are taking over the world, basically, with the first U.S. version opening in Oakland a year ago.

GEORGETOWN It's only been a month since Marcus Lalario's Fat's Chicken and Waffles graced the Central District, and the restaurateur is partnering with James Beard Award winner Matt Dillon (Sitka and Spruce, the Corson Building, Bar Sajor, and more) for a new restaurant in Georgetown. Ciudad, the casual spot coming at 6118 12th Avenue South, will revolve around a monster charcoal grill.

EATER MAPS It's football season, and after a slow start, the Seattle Seahawks are looking for that winning formula and another trip to the Super Bowl. There are plenty of great places in Seattle to watch the game and root for your team, and we've found the places with the best Seahawks-inspired cocktails, or, as they're more festively known: Hawktails. Behold, the best 10 drinks to match your blue and green.
