NORTHEAST — To accompany its cold acai berry bowls and donation-based yoga, Carioca Bowls, located at 827 NE Alberta, has instituted an all vegetarian and vegan hot menu with about 10 new bowls. As the menu below shows, Carioca adds the Samba Bowl, based on chef Matthew Lau's Brazilian feijoada family recipe, a black bean stew topped with house-made pico de gallo and toasted farofa (manioc with onion and garlic).

NORTHEAST — The Viola Wine Cellars urban winery now has a tasting room with regular hours. Located inside of the Cork Wine Shop at 2901 NE Alberta Street, the tasting room pours tastes of its wines, mostly inspired by Northern Italian wines, every Friday from noon to 7 p.m. (and by appointment). The tasting room seats 12; a tasting flight of three wines costs $5 (fee waived with bottle purchase); and owner/winemaker Darryl Joannides says he's working toward more regular hours. [EaterWire]

SOUTHEAST — Remember how Russia sent a dog named Laika into space, becoming the first country to launch an animal into orbit? Celebrate the anniversary this Tuesday at Kachka, where the Laika cocktail, a blend of tarragon vodka, grapefruit, and Fentimans tonic that usually costs $9, will be $5. The cocktail is a play on the Greyhound, get it? [EaterWire]
