Duane Sorenson has confirmed by email to Eater that Stumptown Coffee is being sold to Peet's Coffee & Tea, aka the other West Coast coffee roaster. Sorenson started Stumptown in 1999, and it's one of the most lauded coffee brands on the market right now. Stumptown has four locations in Portland, and it also has locations in Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle.
Based in Berkeley, Calif., Peet's Coffee was founded in 1966, and it has shops in many states, including Washington, Oregon, Massachusetts, Colorado, and Maryland. Peet's has not announced its plans for Stumptown. Stay tuned for more coverage on Eater.
