Beginning immediately, Stumptown Coffee's Portland cafes now serve real food for breakfast and lunch. It's the first big change to Stumptown Coffee since coffee-industry giant Peet's took ownership, and perhaps unsurprisingly, it comes with an assist from Roman Candle Co., the SE Division pizza shop owned by Duane Sorenson, the founder of Stumptown.
According to Stumptown, the menu focuses on three "simple, pared down sandwiches made with high quality ingredients," all "inspired by Duane’s travels in Amsterdam." Roman Candle and Ava Gene's chef Joshua McFadden also helped to develop the sandwiches. They are:
The Bodega, a bacon and egg salad sandwich
The Lil Guy, a scallion cream cheese sandwich served on an everything bun
The Frankie, a mozzarella, pesto and Mama Lil's peppers sandwich served on tomato bread
Also on offer, Roman Candle and Ava Gene's signature Tuscan Cavalry kale salad, a Parmesan umami bomb (and it might even be healthy—you never know). And just like the sandwiches, it comes in a nifty to-go box stamped with the Roman Candle brand. Local Stumptown cafes unveiled the new menu this week across Portland.
