When they finished the build-out of their NE Broadway shop earlier this year, the folks at Spielman Bagels packed up their gear and vacated their tiny SE Division Street shop.
But the plan all along was to stay in the SE—on Division Street, in fact—but in a much larger space. That plan is close to completion. According to Kelsey Peake, Spielman's PR person, the bagel-making coffee roasters will soon open a new 80-seat space literally across the street from its old shop, now occupied by Scottie's Pizza Parlor.
The new-and-expanded Spielman on Division will feature on-site coffee roasting, plus all the bagels, bagel sandwiches, lox, and schmears devotees have come to love.
It will also feature seasonal items like soups, as well as bagel dogs—which are exactly as they sound: bagel-wrapped-and-baked Hebrew National or Olympia Provision franks.
Peake also says the new space will be home to a large, just-off-the-street private patio, as well as a garden, which the kitchen will use as a spice rack and as a source for fruits and vegetables.
Spielman on Division: 2111 SE Division St., Projected Hours: 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays
