Portland is chicken obsessed, and to feed the need, the owners of  BarlowThe Picnic House, and High Noon, Aaron and Jessica Grimmer, announce CHKCHK, which will take over the space formerly home to Subway at 1305 NW 23rd Ave. Sharing the news with Eater by email, communications manager Aaron Wessing says the restaurant will specialize in "a damn fine, responsibly-sourced chicken sandwich," and for vegetarian and vegan options, it will offer a chickpea sandwich. These two sandwiches seem to be the focus, with the website also listing a seasonal salad, waffle fries, cocktails, beer, and soda.

Wessing says CHKCHK will be philanthropic, and the restaurant just confirmed on Sunday it will donate five percent of its gross sales to the Portland Q Center, a non-profit that "provides a safe space to support and celebrate LGBTQ diversity." You can expect to get your first taste January 2016, according to the website.
