Prasad East Pairing Exercise with Wholesome Eats at Portland Rock Gym

The new organic mostly vegan and gluten-free cafe sits on the gym’s mezzanine, overlooking the bouldering wall.

Karen Pride and her righthand woman, Brittney Galloway, say they never intended to open a second Prasad location, but when they folks behind Portland Rock Gym came calling, they figured why not?

As PoMo reported earlier this week, Prasad East quietly opened its doors on the gym's mezzanine on Tuesday, giving rock climbers and yoga classers a place to fuel up before or after working out.

Why the rock gym? Pride says when you consider that the original Prasad is located in Yoga Pearl, it just made sense to continue on with the wholesome eats-meet-active space mashup concept.

The menu, she adds, will be similar, if a little smaller the one at Prasad in the Pearl, so expect the "same simple, healthy, all-organic food," which you can wash down with Smith teas, Trailhead coffees, as well as smoothies, wines by the glass and draft beers, including a gluten-free IPA from Ground Breaker Brewing.

Aside from a few honied items, the whole menu is essentially vegan and can always be made gluten-free. There is one difference, however: Prasad East will also serve poached eggs, just like Pride does at her other healthy eats shop, SE Hawthorne's Harlow.
