Located at 1733 NE Alberta St., Aviary is known for its eclectic French and Asian dishes, not necessarily its vegetarianism. But now chef and owner Sarah Pliner is letting her inner-vegetarian out in the form of a nightly vegetarian chef's tasting menu, which is offered in addition to its regular menu. Each night brings four courses for $40, and you can check out a recent menu below.
Aviary tells Eater that the vegetarian chef's tasting came about as a result of the success of its quarterly Vegetarian Dinner Series, which started in January 2015. Additionally, Pliner was once vegetarian, and her new vegetarian menu items, which will also be available a la carte, form a sort of response to meat-heavy menus everywhere. Along with the new chef's tasting menu, Aviary has turned the bar seating near its kitchen into a veritable chef's counter with seats for four.
