After months of construction, Bamboo Sushi's fourth location is poised to open today, December 17, in the West End. It will be the first Bamboo to serve lunch and a menu of both sustainable sushi and izakaya dishes, and it will also be Bamboo's last Portland location, according to owner Kristofor Lofgren, who says Bamboo Sushi intends to expand outside of the city. Lofgren has not specified where.
Located at 404 SW 12th Ave., the new 2600-square-foot space seats around 64, and in the warm months, sidewalk seating will add another 18 seats. As you can see from the above photos, the West End Bamboo Sushi has large windows, and these can be entirely pushed to the side to connect the indoor and outdoor spaces. Design Department designed the space with a Tokoyo izakaya vibe, including with a Banksy-inspired mural, and it left fire damage on the ceiling from the prior tenants, a methadone clinic.
Bamboo Sushi isn't ready to unroll lunch quite yet, and it will be open daily from 4 to 10 p.m., December 17 through January 3. Lunch will begin January 4, when Bamboo will be open daily from 11 a.m. all the way to 10 p.m.
