DOWNTOWN—Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts has announced it is closing all of its U.S. schools in 2017. The company says a recent cut in federal funding for for-profit schools caused the closures, and it will stop accepting new students once classes begin in January. The Portland school traces its roots to 1983, when it was the Horst Mager Culinary Institute. [Oregonian]
SOUTHEAST—Holdfast opened January reservations at 6 p.m. last night, and it's bring back it's collaboration dinner with hospitality-industry-hangout Rum Club. Accordingly, the collaboration will focus on cocktails by Michael Shea and Emily Mistell and Holdfast's multi-course seasonal and foraged cuisine. The dinners with drink pairings cost $125 per person. [EPDX]
NORTHEAST—Tea Bar on NE Killingsworth is now serving pastries by Nuvrei, the bakery by master baker Marius Pop. This brings one more place in Portland to try Nuvrei's pastries, which are only available at the bakery's Pearl location, Heart Coffee Roasters, and now, Tea Bar. [EPDX]
