NORTHEAST—Providore Fine Foods, the forthcoming European-style marketplace by Pastaworks on NE Sandy, has found what will likely be its final tenant: Rubinette Produce Market, owned by Josh Alsberg, who previously headed the produce department at Food Front for five years. Named after the Northwest apple, Rubinette joins fellow businesses Pastaworks, Arrosto, Little T American Baker, Flying Fish, The Meatmonger, and the Emerald Petals florist. The marketplace's opening date has been pushed back a month, with a tentative grand opening of January 16 27, 2016. [EaterWire]
SOUTHEAST—The brand new Steven Smith Teamaker tasting room and production facility opened on December 2 at 110 SE Washington. Focused on tea tastings and education, it is open everyday except Sundays for tastings and sales. [EaterWire]
PORTLAND—Get your viking on at next week's Aquavit Week. Aquavit is a caraway-seed flavored spirit from Europe's Nordic countries, but when local bartender Jacob Grier saw how many Portland-area distillers were making aquavit, he decided to bring local aquavit to the people. This year's event features aquavit parties and specials in bars throughout the city from December 6 to 12. Things kick off at Broder Nord and end at La Moule, and you can see the full schedule here.
