DOWNTOWN—Kristofor Lofgren's Bamboo Sushi opened its fourth Portland location in mid-December at 404 SW Stark St. in downtown Portland's West End. The 64-seat space comes with a trio of perks: it offers lunch; it delivers that lunch via Postmates; and it takes some reservations, too.
NORTHEAST—Olympia Oyster Bar, Melissa Mayer and Maylin Chavez's long-awaited all-things-oyster bar, officially opened its doors at 4214 N Mississippi Ave. on December 16. The restaurant features a carefully selected list of wines and signature cocktails by Oven and Shaker's Ryan Magarian. Hours are 4 to 11 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and a brunch service is offered every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
NORTHWEST—Aria Gin has changed distilling locations and has taken up new digs at 2304 NW Savier St. The new space also features a tasting room where you can pick up a bottle of its London-inspired dry gin, as well as bitters and barware courtesy of Bull in China.
SOUTHWEST—Fans of Jeff Ridabock's Homegrown Smoker food cart got an early holiday gift last month when Ridabock flung open the doors to Homegrown Smokehouse and Deli at 1628 SW Jefferson St. The vegan deli serves "roast be-IF" and "h-yam" sandwiches, as well as a vegan Philly cheesesteak. The place is open every day of the week, save Tuesdays, with abbreviated hours on Sundays. And don't worry: The cart, parked on N Mississippi, will remain open.
SOUTHWEST—Paiche, Jose Luis and Cossima de Cossio's "Peruvian Eatery," opened its doors to the public on December 8 at 4237 SW Corbett Ave. The 20-seat counter-service spot serves coffee, breakfast, lunch, and grab-and-go items.
SOUTHEAST—After months of planning and building, Smith Teamaker, the late-Steven Smith's groundbreaking tea company, has officially opened in Southeast. Steven Smith Teamaker HQ and Tasting Room is located at 110 SE Washington St. It's open every day of the week except Sunday, and it offers visitors the chance to sample any Smith tea while also getting a glimpse at how the tea is made.
SOUTHEAST—For years, Hale Pele's Blair Reynolds has been bottling his own cocktail syrups and elixirs, and now he's created a home for them, too. BG Reynolds's Cocktail Provisions and Tasting Room officially opened on December 6 at 1910 SE 11th Ave. Spirits will be on-hand, letting you try Reynolds's products with the requisite booze. Expect to find Bull in China bar gear, Hawaiian shirts, and, coming soon, cocktail classes.
