This Sunday, Blair Reynolds will officially open the BG Reynolds Cocktail Provisions and Tasting Room at 1910 SE 11th Ave. Reynolds is the man behind the Hale Pele tiki bar, B. G. Reynolds syrups and cocktail mixers, and Americano, the soon-to-open coffee-meets-amaro cafe. Speaking with Eater by phone, he explained that the main idea is to invite the public to taste any of his syrups and mixers. The tasting bar will have Four Roses Bourbon, over-proof rums, and other spirits for mixing, and a host will walk you through each of the syrups you're interested in, allowing you to sample each one unadorned (via fizzy water) and completely adulterated (via tropical punches). When you've tasted a winner or two, just grab a bottle and you're good to go. (Note that the store will only sell mixology products, so satisfy your alcohol needs somewhere else).
The BG Reynolds' Cocktail Provisions and Tasting Room will also sell bar supplies. Expect to find glassware, bar gear, tiki mugs, and Hawaiian shirts—not to mention mixology equipment from local Bull in China. And perhaps most exciting, Reynolds says he is reviving his once-popular tiki cocktail classes, which he had to abandon after Hale Pele, the bar that hosted them, grew too popular—that is to say, crowded.
