Located just up the block from Ataula in Northwest, Le Vieux has unleashed chef Brian Leitner's minimalist Old World cooking during lunch hours. You'll find the below menu of French-influenced soups, salads, sandwiches, plates, and desserts, served Wednesday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Le Vieux's new lunch hours come in addition to weekend brunch and dinner, served Wednesday through Sunday.
Leitner's dishes often show restraint, a style he says he first developed during his five-year stint at Chez Panisse. "I learned how to understand why certain dishes are minimalist through researching their histories," he told Eater, adding that he developed a deep appreciation for the inherent flavors of ingredients during his time there, too. You'll find a simultaneously juicy and crunchy chermoula-marinated Fried Chicken Sandwich and the silky feta-studded Lamb Burger, which comes atop a thick slice of grilled red onion and topped with fennel tzatziki.
