Kenton residents rejoice! The owners of Tabor Tavern, a perennially busy neighborhood restaurant in the Mt. Tabor neighborhood, are bringing their recipe for success to your neck of the woods.
According to a press release, owners Ken "Zig" Naffziger and his wife, Kristen Siefkin, have taken over the space at 8103 and 8107 N. Denver Avenue, and are planning to open a similar neighborhood joint called Swift and Union this spring.
The couple moved to Kenton six months ago, they say, "and felt an immediate affinity for the area and knew we wanted to be a part of it." The menu will be similar to Tabor Tavern, so expect plenty of seasonal gastropub fare like burgers with bacon jam, and cauliflower-cheddar fritters, plus beer, wine, and cocktails. Named for the area's industrial roots, when factories like Union Meat Company and Swift & Company employed most of the residents, Swift & Union will be open daily for lunch and dinner, including weekend brunch.
Naffziger has said before that he plans to open up to five more taverns across Portland.
