Lardo Appeases Demanding Hordes, Brings Back Paadee/Langbaan Thai Chicken Sandwich

Plus get ready for $1 pints of Lardo Lager.

Avila/EPDX

When Chefs' Week arrived the first week of February, it brought with it five multi-course  dinners, four booze-drenched after parties, and a host of special food collaborations like beers, candy, and most importantly the Thai Coconut Curry Fried Chicken Sandwich at Lardo (crispy fried chicken piled on a soft bun and topped with butter lettuce, basil, cilantro, pickled vegetables, red curry and coconut cream).

The ridiculously tasty creation from chefs Earl Ninsom and Rassamee Ruaysuntia at Paadee/Langbaan in collaboration with Rick Gencarelli at Lardo was supposed to be a one-week special in honor of the event. But word of its tastiness got around, hordes descended, and when the sandwich ended its run on Feb. 8, people begged for more. Gencarelli has heard their cries, and brought the sandwich back as the February Chefwich as of yesterday. It'll be available through the end of the month, and proceeds benefit No Kid Hungry.

But wait! There's more! Oakshire Brewing and Lardo teamed up to create an exclusive Lardo Lager. Oakshire says "Lardo is known for using old-world techniques with contemporary flourishes. This is why Oakshire chose to use a Czech Pilsner for the Lardo Lager — an old world style with a new school spin. Lardo Larger is a bright golden lager with a soft bread-like aroma from the floor malted Bohemian malt. It is light bodied and refreshing with a sharp spicy Noble hop flavor and aroma. It finishes clean with noticeable hop snap." It's 5.5 percent ABV and has 48 IBUs.

The beer hits Lardo's taps Friday, Feb. 20, and to celebrate they'll offer pints of Lardo Lager for just one dollar all day long at all three locations.
