For five years, Whiffies Fried Pies has been a staple of the late-night, fried-fat-fueled, post-drinking food cart scene. Along with Potato Champion and Perierra Creperie, it's a fixture at the Cartopia cart pod on SE Hawthorne, almost venerable in its longevity. But according to the cart's Twitter feed, Whiffies has fried its last pie.
We've been trying to get everything finalized before making the announcement that we are closing the cart.

The cart's website and Facebook page make no mention of shuttering, but on Twitter, owner Gregg Abbott says the cart has a new owner who will be bringing a new concept. No word yet on what that will be, or what Abbott has planned for the future. Stay tuned.
